Great Season Everyone!

Thank you, thank you to everyone who participated in Running Club this season! We had a blast! The 5K on Saturday was a huge success! Clairlea had over 65 students and parents participating!

To celebrate, we are having a little get together tomorrow at morning recess in the gym. Please wear your medals for a photo!

Spring 2015 - We're Back!

Time to dust off those running shoes, put on your running shorts! (What!? Shorts? Well, maybe not just yet!) But get out your running gear because the Clairlea Running Team is back in action!

When: Starting Tuesday, April 7. We will be running every Tuesday and Thursday mornings, at 7:40 a.m. On Wednesday, there will be cross training in the gym. So that's Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings at 7:40 am. Please be on time and ready to run or train!

Where: Tuesdays and Thursday are outside and will be our usual route around the neighbourhood and Edge Park. This means you need to dress for the weather. We will cancel if the weather is rainy. Check this blog regularly and on rainy mornings for details! Wednesday cross training is in the gym.

Who: Students from Grades 1 to 8. However, Grades 1 & 2 students need parent (or adult) supervision for Tuesday and Thursday run mornings. We do have some teachers joining us but parents (or adults) need to be available to supervise their Grades 1 and 2 children.

Permission Forms are due back to Ms Carson by Thursday of this week (Thursday, April 1). Permission forms must be signed and returned for you to participate.

Anything Else?

  • Please bring a water bottle and a snack for after the run.
  • Please remember to dress in appropriate gear: running shoes, flexible clothing like track pants, leggings, sweats, etc. We do not recommend running in jeans. They are heavy and uncomfortable for running. The mornings will be chilly for the first few weeks, so wear a hat, mittens and light-weight jacket. Dress in layers so you can peel off as you warm up!
Looking forward to seeing you all there!
Go Panthers!

(Please check back if weather looks questionable and don't forget to bring your permission forms!)

TDSB Healthy School 5K Tomorrow!

It's finally here! Tomorrow is the 5K at Downsview Park. We hope to see you all there! If you are coming with us on the bus, you need to be at the school no later than 8:15. We will be giving out bibs and making sure everyone is in their spot before the bus departs at 8:30.
The school will NOT be open at this time. Please make sure you have everything you need and are ready to get on the bus :)
If you are meeting us at the park, please be there by 9:30 so we can get everyone organized, give you your bib, and get to the start line on time.
If you would like to join us but haven't registered, we have a few extra bibs so please talk to Ms Bauman or Ms Carson and we will get you a number.

On another note, Tuesday May 27th will be our last running club of the season and we will be having a little breakfast celebration. As such, parental supervision for Grades 1 and 2 is not required. We are so proud of all the hard work everyone has been doing- Congrats everyone!

See you in the morning!
